On this day, in a custom called mame-maki, people throw and scatter roasted soy beans inside and outside their houses while saying,
“Get goblins out of the house! Invite happiness into the home!”
After throwing the beans, people customarily eat one roasted soy bean, mame, for each year of their age, and pray for happiness throughout the year!
There is another reason why people roast and eat these beans; It is said that the bean contains the evil of the previous year, and so it is roasted to prevent evil from sprouting.
People in some regions scatter peanuts and eat them, because peanuts are easier to clean and pick up.
Some people eat rolled sushi, ehomaki, while facing the year’s “lucky” direction (North west 2017.)

From 1pm to 5pm they will have a parade!

麻布十番商店街で節分のパレードがあるみたいですね！
午後１時～５時まで一時通行できない時間帯がある様ですので皆様お気をつけていらして下さいね
節分とは、雑節の一つで、各季節の始まりの日（立春・立夏・立秋・立冬）の前日のこと。
また季節を分けるという意味もあるんですね。
昔は季節の変わり目には邪気（鬼）が生じると考えられており、それを追い払うために「福は内、鬼は外」と声を出しながら豆を撒いて、年齢の数だけ（もしくは1つ多く）豆を食べる厄除けを行うのが一般的なようです。
そして近年、わりとポピュラーになった恵方巻！
節分に食べると縁起が良いとされている太巻きですね。
今年の吉方は北北西だそうです。
